1. Use of this website

This website is provided for general information about the Studio, its portfolio, and services. By using the site you agree not to use it for any unlawful purpose, not to attempt to gain unauthorised access to any part of the site or its underlying systems, and not to interfere with its operation or security.

While we take reasonable care to ensure that information on the website is accurate and current, we make no representation or warranty, express or implied, as to its completeness, accuracy, reliability, or suitability for any particular purpose. Content is provided on an "as is" basis and may be updated, amended, or removed at any time without notice.

Any reliance you place on information published on this website is at your own risk.

2. Intellectual property

All content on this website, including but not limited to text, photographs, graphics, illustrations, drawings, renderings, mood boards, specifications, video, audio, and the overall design and arrangement of the site, is the intellectual property of Tania Minnaar Interior Design (Pty) Ltd or is used under licence. All rights are reserved.

You may view and download content for personal, non-commercial reference only. You may not copy, reproduce, republish, distribute, modify, sell, license, or create derivative works from any part of the website or our design materials without our prior written consent.

Concepts, drawings, schedules, and specifications prepared by the Studio for a project remain our intellectual property at all times. On full payment of all fees due, you receive a non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to use those materials for the agreed project only.

3. Design services

The Studio provides residential and selected commercial interior design services, which may include concept development, space planning, joinery and lighting design, finishes and material specification, procurement, styling, and on-site consulting.

The specific scope of services, deliverables, timelines, and number of design rounds for any project is set out in a written proposal or Letter of Engagement. Anything outside that scope is treated as additional work and quoted separately before being carried out.

We are not architects, structural engineers, or licensed building contractors. Where structural, electrical, plumbing, or regulatory matters arise, we will recommend qualified specialists, but the engagement of those specialists is between you and them.

4. Fees, quotations & payment

Our fees are quoted in writing before any project commences and may be charged as a fixed design fee, an hourly rate, a procurement margin on goods sourced through the Studio, a percentage of project value, or a combination of these. Quotations are valid for thirty (30) days from the date of issue, after which fees and availability may be re-quoted.

A non-refundable design retainer is payable on engagement and is offset against the first invoice. Design fees are invoiced monthly in arrears or at agreed project milestones. Procurement is invoiced in full at the point of order, and goods are not placed until payment is received in cleared funds.

Invoices are payable within seven (7) days of issue. Overdue amounts may attract interest at the prevailing prescribed rate under the South African Prescribed Rate of Interest Act, and we reserve the right to suspend work and withhold deliverables until accounts are settled. Reasonable disbursements, including courier, travel beyond a 50 km radius of the Studio, and sample fees, are charged at cost.

All fees are quoted in South African Rand and, where applicable, are exclusive of Value-Added Tax (VAT), which will be added at the prevailing rate.

5. Procurement & suppliers

Where the Studio procures furniture, fittings, fabrics, lighting, art, or other goods on your behalf, we act as your agent. Quoted prices include our procurement margin and are valid for fourteen (14) days unless otherwise stated.

All orders are placed only after written approval and payment in full. Lead times are estimates provided by suppliers and are not guaranteed by the Studio. Custom, made-to-order, and imported pieces may be subject to longer or revised timelines and to currency fluctuations beyond our control.

Goods must be inspected on delivery or installation. Any damage, defect, or variance from specification must be reported in writing within seven (7) days; claims raised after this period are at the supplier's discretion. Bespoke and imported items are non-returnable except where faulty.

Trade discounts negotiated by the Studio are confidential. We do not disclose net cost prices, supplier identities, or trade account terms.

6. Approvals, revisions & site work

Each phase of design is presented for your formal written approval before the next phase begins. Approval may be given by email, signed document, or any clear written confirmation. The number of revision rounds included in the fee is set out in your proposal; further revisions, or changes requested after a phase has been approved, are treated as additional work.

You agree to provide safe, lawful, and reasonable access to the property for the Studio and its appointed trades during agreed hours. Where the site is occupied during installation, the Client is responsible for protecting personal belongings and pets and for ensuring the area is clear of obstructions on the agreed day.

The Studio will take reasonable care during installation but is not responsible for pre-existing conditions of the property, including wall surfaces, floors, fixed joinery, or services concealed within the structure.

7. Cancellation & refunds

Either party may end the engagement by giving fourteen (14) days' written notice. On termination, all fees for work carried out up to the date of termination become immediately payable, the design retainer is not refunded, goods already ordered with suppliers cannot be cancelled and must be paid for in full, and materials prepared up to that point will be released to you once outstanding amounts are settled.

Where the Studio terminates due to a material breach by the Client — including non-payment, unsafe conditions, or unreasonable conduct toward our team or trades — the above applies and no further notice period is required.

8. Privacy & POPIA

The Studio is committed to protecting your personal information in accordance with the Protection of Personal Information Act, 4 of 2013 ("POPIA") of the Republic of South Africa.

We collect personal information that you provide directly to us — such as your name, contact details, project address, and information shared during the course of an engagement — for the purpose of responding to enquiries, preparing proposals, delivering services, processing payments, and complying with our legal obligations.

We will not sell or rent your personal information. We may share it with trusted suppliers, contractors, and service providers strictly to the extent required to perform the services you have engaged us for, and we require those parties to handle it confidentially and in accordance with applicable law.

You have the right, in terms of POPIA, to access the personal information we hold about you, to request correction or deletion of inaccurate or outdated information, to object to processing in certain circumstances, and to lodge a complaint with the Information Regulator of South Africa. Requests should be sent to hello@taniaminnaar.com.

We retain personal information only for as long as is reasonably necessary for the purpose for which it was collected, or as required by law.

9. Cookies

This website uses cookies and similar technologies to operate the site, remember your preferences, analyse traffic, and improve your experience. Cookies are small text files placed on your device when you visit a website.

We use:

  • Strictly necessary cookies — required for the website to function and cannot be disabled.
  • Performance and analytics cookies — to understand how visitors use the site so we can improve it.
  • Functional cookies — to remember choices you make, such as language or region.

You can control or disable cookies through your browser settings at any time. Disabling certain cookies may affect the functionality of the website.

10. Limitation of liability

The Studio's services are provided with reasonable care, skill, and judgement consistent with current professional standards in interior design. To the maximum extent permitted by law, our total liability under or in connection with any project is limited to the total design fees paid to us in respect of that project, excluding the cost of goods, freight, and third-party services.

We are not liable for indirect, consequential, or economic loss; delay or default by suppliers, contractors, or freight carriers; variations in natural materials such as stone, timber, leather, and hand-loomed textiles where such variation is a feature of the material; colour differences between samples, renderings, and finished installations; or damage arising from misuse, improper cleaning, or normal wear of furnishings.

Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits any liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited under South African law, including under the Consumer Protection Act, 68 of 2008, where it applies.

11. Indemnity

You agree to indemnify and hold the Studio, its directors, employees, and appointed contractors harmless against any claim, demand, loss, liability, or expense (including reasonable legal costs) arising from your breach of these Terms, your misuse of the website, your provision of inaccurate information, or any third-party claim arising from work carried out at your instruction outside the agreed scope.

12. Force majeure

Neither party is liable for failure or delay in performing its obligations where caused by events beyond reasonable control, including acts of God, fire, flood, pandemic, civil unrest, strike action, shipping disruption, customs delay, loadshedding, or government restriction. Affected obligations are suspended for the duration of the event and timelines extended accordingly.

13. Dispute resolution

The parties will use reasonable endeavours to resolve any dispute arising from these Terms or any project amicably and in good faith. If the matter cannot be resolved by direct discussion within thirty (30) days, the parties agree to refer the dispute to mediation under the rules of the Arbitration Foundation of Southern Africa (AFSA) before initiating any formal legal proceedings, save where urgent interim relief is required.

14. Governing law

These Terms and any matter arising from them are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the Republic of South Africa. The parties consent to the non-exclusive jurisdiction of the competent South African courts.

If any provision of these Terms is found to be invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions continue in full effect.

15. Amendments

We may amend these Terms from time to time. The version published on this website at the date of your engagement is the version that applies to your project. Continued use of the website after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
